The Media Council of Uganda will conduct a comprehensive training workshop on media ethics and professional standards for accredited journalists. The three-day intensive program is scheduled for January 15-17, 2026, at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala.

This mandatory training program aims to reinforce ethical journalism practices, update journalists on evolving media regulations, and provide practical guidance on navigating complex ethical dilemmas in modern newsrooms. The workshop is a requirement for all journalists seeking accreditation renewal in 2026.

Workshop Format

The training combines lectures, interactive discussions, case study analysis, and practical exercises. Participants will work through real-world ethical scenarios, engage in group problem-solving activities, and receive personalized feedback on their professional practices.

Each day runs from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with breaks for refreshments and networking. The workshop includes breakfast, lunch, and training materials for all participants.

Fee: UGX 150,000 (includes all materials, meals, and certificate)

Limited spaces are available, with priority given to journalists seeking accreditation renewal. Early registration is strongly encouraged.

Certification

Participants who complete the full three-day program and pass the final assessment will receive a Certificate of Completion in Media Ethics and Professional Standards. This certificate is valid for accreditation purposes and demonstrates commitment to ethical journalism practices.

Accommodation

For participants traveling from outside Kampala, the Media Council has negotiated special rates with nearby hotels. A list of recommended accommodation options will be provided upon registration.
